DESCRIPTION:As a founding Trustee for Camp Jojo\, I’m delighted to be speaking at Raising the Bar III about the incredible work of Camp Jojo which came about as we wanted to give other families the kind of holiday experience we always wanted as the parent of a child with complex needs. \n“Camp Jojo gives 6-7 families with children with complex needs at a time\, the opportunity to camp for 3 days under canvas on a specially adapted campsite on Ivy Farm\, East Mersea with whatever accessible equipment they require. \nWe provide trained volunteers committed to supporting each family to ensure the experience remains a holiday rather than an endurance event. \nAt Camp Jojo we pride ourselves on ensuring all activities are accessible to every family member : bushcraft activities\, time round the fire and lots of outdoor fun\, foraging\, beach time\, tomahawk throwing\, feeding farm animals\, campfires\, tai chi\, fire lighting\, music\, massage and much more.” \nRaising the Bar III focuses on a review of the Core & Essential Service Standards for the support of people with profound and multiple learning disabilities. \nBuilding on the previous Raising the Bar National Conferences\, we aim to bring together speakers\, delegates and exhibitors from the UK\, Ireland and beyond to share positive stories and practice to inspire and promote the very best support. \nIf you are a family carer\, education/health or social care professional there is so much to be gained from this wonderful event.
