SUMMARY:24-hour Postural Care: Hands-on training for the postural care workforce
DESCRIPTION:Details \nThe course will run over an 8 week period. A delegate is expected to do around 2 hours independent learning each week using the videos and workbooks. There will be a hosted live event on Zoom 2 weeks after receiving the course (23rd February at 1pm) and another 4 weeks later (23rd March at 1pm). You will then have a further 2 weeks (and a bit extra as an Easter treat) to complete the course workbook (deadline 13th April). The live events provide an opportunity to ask questions\, get assistance and meet others delivering hands on postural care. \nWhy? \nPeople with complex needs\, deserve a thorough\, co-ordinated postural care service. We only get one body and yet people with complex disabilities don’t always get the ‘annual service’ afforded the equipment they use. Posture Positive report 2020 found training is a key aspect to developing resilient and robust 24-hour postural care for people with complex needs. The key ingredients to excellence in postural care comes in equipping the people delivering hands on care with knowledge and confidence. \nWho? \nFrom personal assistants working in a young child’s home to care workers providing support in a residential care setting. Everyone supporting people with limited movement requires training to provide excellent postural care. It is a team effort involving the whole workforce of people who provide support across education\, health and social care around the clock\, 24-hours a day. \nWhat? \nThis course includes: \n\nWhy is postural care a big deal?\nHow can we predict future problems?\nMaking a difference through positioning\nPostural care in the real world with real people\n\nTestimonials \n“I often feel powerless but Sarah and Rachel\, you have made me feel powerful\,” \n“I realise I have been doing it wrong. I need to work with the family in a different way.” \nTrainers \nRachel Wright (BSc) Founder of Born at the Right Time Rachel is author of The Skies I’m Under\, finalist 2020 RCN Nursing Awards\, trainer\, qualified nurse and unqualified mum of three sons; one of whom has severe disabilities and life-limiting epilepsy. Occasionally she ties on her trainers and runs in a vague attempt to counteract her love for Salt ‘n Vinegar crisps\, hummus and all things carbohydrate. \nSarah Clayton (BSc\, PGCE) CEO Simple Stuff Works Sarah is passionate about all things postural care. Sounds dull but it turns out that her passion translates into highly contagious enthusiasm. She has developed a range of accredited training courses accessible to health\, social care and education practitioners. Sarah has four children\, works full-time and can regularly be found wearing her jumper inside out.

SUMMARY:24-hour Postural Care Family Course
DESCRIPTION:Details \nEach learner is expected to do around 2 hours work weekly using the pre-recorded training videos (less than 1 hour each week) and a downloadable workbook which are accessed via a password protected webpage. There will be a hosted live event on Zoom once you have received the course content (2nd February at 1pm or 7.30pm) and then 4 weeks later (2nd March at 1pm or 7.30pm). These sessions provide an opportunity to ask questions\, get assistance and meet other families delivering hands on postural care. There will be an additional two weeks to complete the workbook following the final live event. \nWhy? \nPostural care training is most powerful in the hands of the people delivering it – the families of those with limited movement. \nWho? \nThis course is by families and for families. Whether you are a sibling\, parent\, husband or guardian supporting someone with complex needs\, this training provides knowledge\, skills and confidence to provide excellence in postural care. \nWhat? \nThis course includes: \n\nWhy is postural care a big deal?\nSpotting possible problems\nDifferent people need different things\nPostural care in the real world with real people\n\nIf you are unable to meet the cost of this event\, please contact admin@bornattherighttime.com. Not being able to afford to pay is no reason not to join us. You won’t be asked to prove a need or financial hardship\, simply tell us you need a discount code or a free space and we will do the rest! \nTestimonials \n“I often feel powerless but Sarah and Rachel\, you have made me feel powerful\,”\n“Listening to Rachel describing her experience of communication made me realise I needed to rethink my approach. I can’t thank you enough for being so open and honest.”\nTrainers \nRachel Wright (BSc) Founder of Born at the Right Time Rachel is author of The Skies I’m Under\, finalist 2020 RCN Nursing Awards\, trainer\, qualified nurse and unqualified mum of three sons; one of whom has severe disabilities and life-limiting epilepsy.
