Parenting a child with disabilities can be daunting and overwhelming, rewarding and incredible.
Welcome, it’s great you’ve stumbled upon Born at the Right Time. In 2005, Rachel Wright’s eldest son was born with a bump. As a qualified nurse and unqualified parent, she hurtled down an unmarked road of loving a child with complex disabilities and life-limiting epilepsy. Ten years later, her 5* memoir, The Skies I’m Under was published and Born at the Right Time founded.
Born at the Right Time is passionate about bridging the gap between families of people with complex disabilities and the many practitioners across health, education and social care, who support them. We do this through CPD-certified training in communication, co-production and personalised care, supporting transformational leadership and service delivery, whilst also influencing public policy.
We believe the lives of people with complex disabilities are improved when Social Care, Health and SEND services are person- and family-centred, when shared decision making and personalised action planning embodies a person’s values, aspirations, needs and context. True empowerment for families and individuals is not merely a shift in responsibility but rather a transfer of power through increased authority, agency and resources.
